How far does yours get before hanging?

That gives me some idea. My machine has _exactly_ the same problem.
If this is really due to a kernel build for Itanium2 then maybe it helps
installing woody, upgrading and then building a custom kernel from
the official sources.
I guess that means I don't have to send in a bootlog. What I see is
just like this:
