I wonder if this is caused by the same thing as #508820. The fact that you couldn't reboot suggests that it might. Can you collect the same information I requested in that report? http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=508820#12 Can you try booting another non-2.6.26 kernel, and then reinstalling 2.6.26-11?
