With the current upstream version, yes. With previous versions there
were a couple nasty problems that prevented this from working correctly.

Well I made some tests at work also when ipv6 is available but the net 
is unreacheable
it automatically scale back to ipv4 (if available)

just fine so I don't see any reason not to make this change in the
stock package as well.
