Hello, Ah... you see, this is why i was confused, cos i booted from CD-ROM, but downloaded the base system and all the packages thru HTTP. i obviously saw "2.4" in the kernel list, and chose it, without looking properly at what it was. there was probably a standard 2.4 kernel there as well, but i guess i missed it.
Oh well, i guess i shall live without IPv6 until i move house in 6 months and have no internet connection... i can take that opportunity to down my server and try to install a new kernel.
