DHCP gives out info on the location of print servers, time servers, DNS servers, &c, as well as being able to assign an IP address based on the name that the client provides, rather than on MAC address. I'd find it useful to hand out the same IP address regardless of which PCMCIA card I've grabbed to plug in to provide connectivity to my laptop. Peter C
