I've been using 6wall, a Linux Router Project package, which is based on Shorewall (http://www.shorewall.net/)
You can find more on 6wall at http://leaf-project.org/doc/howto/6wall.html While it's an lrp package it is possible to extract the relevant bits from it as the lrp package is just a tar.gz bundle.
Excellent suggestion! Thank you. I'm accustomed to using Shorewall, so if I can figure out how to install it, I should be good to go.
Looks like there's no takers on making an IPv6 firewall package for 6wall or ip6wall. Maybe I'll break down and take the time to figure it out.
maybe you want to use the prerelease debian pkg from here:
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/6/6wall/
