Hi Matthias, Having a prefix length shorter than /64, like /48, is useful in the case you want to have more different networks.
For example if you have the prefix 2001:DB8:ABC/48, you can use the 16 extra bits to identify your other networks: 2001:DB8:ABC:0001/64 for your public servers network 2001:DB8:ABC:0002/64 for your employees network 2001:DB8:ABC:0003/64 for your mobile users networks, etc Best Regards Claudia On Mon, 2005-03-07 at 10:43, Matthias Cramer wrote: > Frederic Beck wrote: > > Hello > > > > I'm using radvd to send RA in an IPv6 test network. > > > > When using 64 bits long prefixes, everything works fine, my network is > > functional.
