host / nameserver registration

Hi,

I have to register my nameserver for a domain. I have applied to networksolutions and 
I didn't get a mail for a week or more. The domain name is for my graduation project 
and I do not bother any ISP's for that. Is there any otherway of registering a host 
beside networksolutions or any other solution to my question?
