No; I just have it installed on this system, is all.

It does; and I do (equiv /home/gaol/bin/bash) -- my error message is no
longer that bin bash isn't there (fixed permissions), but that the
chroot operation is not permitted.

It's trying -- but I feel there's something else in a default Debian
installation that prevents it.
