Sorry I was a little short on information. We can ping other hosts on the remote network without problems. For example www.galileo.com is on the same class C as vpn.galileo.com ... we can reach www.galileo.com consistently from all of our computers (Linux and Win98/NT/2000). This is why I think the problem is with the remote host and not our (or even their) network. How could a ping from Linux and Win2k work but not from Win98/NT? How can pings returned to a Linux and win2k box on the same network show such widely different TTLs?
