Last i heard, it wasnt very stable, and was flakey... The only 'software' solution that i've seen referred to in a good tone, would be freebsd's implementation. I dont recall the name, but a quick search on deja should yield positive results.
Keep in mind, i havent researched this topic for a full year, which means that linux may have changed SIGNIFICANTLY in this area without my knowledge.
