sendmail

Hi,
I am getting Warning: .cf file is out of date: sendmail 8.9.3 supports 
version 8, .cf file is version 7, is there a way to upgrade the cf file 
or do I need to regenerate it.  How would I do this, just 
dpkg-reconfigure sendmail?  Would I need to backup my virtualusertable 
before I do that?
