My ISP: Road Runner Central Florida (cable) I had been able to connect with kernel 2.20 vanilla from woody, following the instructions given in http://home.cfl.rr.com/aawtrey/ , the connection was slow.
After compiling and installing kernel 2.4.18, that dind't work any more.
