Token Ring e arp...

Salve a tutti, volevo sottoporre una domanda sull'utilizzo dell'arp 
nelle reti di tipo Token Ring.

Ho notato che iptables o squid, per esempio, mi fanno definire regole 
arp solo per le schede ethernet... sicuramente c'e' un motivo, qualcuno 
sa' dirmi qual'e'?
