Ho avuto lo stesso problema.
In /usr/src ho queste directory
linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686
linux-headers-2.6.18-3
non ho fatto altro che creare un link simbolico
linux -> linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686
E poi ha funzionato tutto.
Ho provato anche questo
#ls -la
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root src 26 2007-02-08 11:01 linux ->
linux-headers-2.6.18-3-686
