Bhè, anche a me capita non poche volte - causa l' esiguità del
segnale - di vedere l' AP senza riuscire a connettermi...potresti
postare il tuo:
ifconfig ath0
ed il:
route
oltre che:
cat /etc/resolv.conf
almeno siam certi che non manca nulla ;)

P.S. proverei, per il momento, a far fungere il tutto senza DHCP in
quanto è relativamente più semplice sia da configurare che da verificare
