current gij-4.1 should have workarounds to sucessfully install. Apparently tools compiled with gcj to native code do work, "just" the runtime is broken. please try to build ecj-bootstrap, and check that the resulting binary ecj-bootstrap-gcj works. the build will take insane amounts of memory and time, so please turn off any build timeouts.
