Hello Thomas, you may use a version number like --pristine-tar -u1.4.0~dfsg to make even more obvious that the original sources were filtered. As a consequence, the version number of your package would become something like 1.4.0~dfsg-1, for instance. By the way, since this is maybe my first post on this list, here is a brief introduction.
