Hi, The Lintian error package-installs-java-bytecode produces too many false-positives at the moment. The concerns about this warning were already raised on debian-java last month. https://lists.debian.org/debian-java/2017/09/msg00061.html Feel free to clone this bug report as needed. - The Lintian check should only trigger package-installs-java-bytecode when the number of classes detected in the binary package exceeds 20 - do not trigger package-installs-java-bytecode if the path contains "WEB-INF", "demo", "doc", "example", "sample" or "test". - verify if the .class files are really Java class files (by checking the 0xCAFEBABE header, this will avoid false positives like apertium-eo-fr and grass-core). - lower the severity of package-installs-java-bytecode to pendatic or info We think the original idea of https://bugs.debian.org/873211 was to detect prebuilt class files in source packages without corresponding source. We suggest to modify source-contains-prebuilt-java-object to also detect .class files instead.
