I'm maintaining src:reform-tools for the MNT Reform open hardware laptop. My
package has been unable to migrate to testing for 41 days and has since been
removed from testing. The reason is a meta-package which depends on
fonts-jetbrains-mono which itself requires kotlin to build and kotlin is
RC-buggy since March.

I was wondering what the status of kotlin was in Debian and whether I should
rather switch away from fonts-jetbrains-mono (which also has been removed from
testing) due to the issues with kotlin or whether I should rather wait for
kotlin to get fixed?

Kotlin just needs to be rebuilt with OpenJDK 17 to pick the Java 25 fixes in intellij-community-idea/183.5153.4-7, so this issue is likely to be fixed.

That said, relying on Kotlin to build a font remains a risk, I think it would be wise to rewrite the fonts-jetbrains-mono's Kotlin script in pure Java [1], any LLM should be able do that in a second.
