The post is funded by a STFC Grant and is available from 1 April 2011. The initial contract will be until 31 March 2013, with the possibility of renewal thereafter. The Centre is involved in running a number of Particle Physics experiments and will continue to do so in the future. It also has major commitments to the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. In order to support these activities the Group run a Linux-based High Throughput Computing Cluster, which is one of the largest UK university resources within the Particle Physics Grid. The Cluster has been recently significantly upgraded so that comprises of 2112 CPU cores and 1.3PB of storage. It is intended to continue to expand this facility in the coming years. The successful candidate will work with an existing senior system manager and be jointly responsible for the day-to-day management of the Cluster's hardware and software, its future development and the development and deployment of Grid software. The initial salary will be in the range of £30,350 - £33,794 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
