I rather like the idea of blocks. A couple of years ago I created a logo that until recently was used for a site for medical-student projects - the logo was a single block with the 3 letters of an acronym on the 3 visible faces. I actually created it as a 3-D model, and always thought it would be cute to make an animation of it. Since Debian has 6 letters, one could make a block with 1 letter/face, spin it in 3-D, then have it settle with the Debian swirl showing on one face. The animation might convey the notion of dynamism and energy as mentioned by Ben Armstrong in an earlier message. Maybe Peter Crystal's nice handprint idea could also be incorporated, although clutter is a danger. As with the 'debian' beside the swirl at www.debian.org, the single block could be next to the word 'debian' but with a less formal font (e.g., Kids, or Technical, or just written by one of our kids). I'd better not wake up my 6-year-old for an opinion. - Robert Funnell -- W. Robert J. Funnell, Ph.D., Eng., Assoc. Prof. Dept.
