Theo ....
I did manage to get timidity working ....
o Renamed /etc/timidity/freepats.cfg to timidity.cfg
o Changed paths in timidity.cfg to all .pat files
to absolute paths in the freepats dir ....
o Added options for *slow* CPU ....
This old Compaq only runs at 250 MHz
The Timidity Debian Beginner's Guide
was very useful ....
