I just downloaded and installed KDE 2.1-beta2 from kde2.tdyc.com. At first glance it works... The only problem that I couldn't solve is with kdevelop 1.4 : the file /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/fr/kdevelop/tutorial/index.html' is in kdevelop as well as in kde-i18n-fr. I had the same problem with kdbg 1.2. It probably comes from the fact that the kde-i18n-?? packages contain the "other" branch from CVS. The .po files in that branch may conflict with those provided in other packages.
