Hi. After sending the message below, I upgraded my machine at school to the KDE 2.2.1 from unstable. It is now an up-to-date testing system, with all of the KDE-related packages taken from unstable. The version of kmail is 4:2.2.1-1.1.
I thought that might solve the problem noted below in KDE 2.1.2 and kmail, but it didn't. The machine at school ALSO won't render HTML pages. And I also checked its configuration, preferences, etc., as well as I could (see below). Does anyone know if perhaps KDE has removed HTML rendering from kmail, perhaps as a security measure? Or can anyone suggest what might be mis-configured or missing on my systems? BTW, I just noticed that kmail in unstable is now at version 4:2.2.1-1.2. That version now depends on libc6 >= 2.2.4-2, which is higher than the version of libc6 in testing. Does that mean that KDE 2.2.1 won't make it into testing until libc6 2.2.4-3 does? All best, Oliver Johns ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- Subject: kmail doesn't render HTML messages Date: Thu, 4 Oct 2001 15:55:24 -0700 From: Oliver Johns <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Hi, Has anyone else seen this, or am I missing the point somewhere? I have an up to date testing system, with KDE 2.1.2 and kmail 1.2. About two weeks ago, kmail suddenly stopped rendering HTML email messages. They now come out as the ASCII codes instead. Before two weeks ago, the HTML was rendered correctly, and automatically. I can cut and paste the HTML into a file and see it correctly in konqueror or netscape, so it seems to be good HTML. Is it possible that upgrade of some package about that time upset kmail's ability to render HTML? I have checked the following kmail settings: Folder:"Prefer HTML to plain text" --- checked Settings:Configuration:Appearance:Layout:"Prefer plain text to HTML rendering" --- unchecked. ~/.kde/share/kmailrc:[Reader]:htmlMail=true ~/.kde/share/kmailrc:[xxx]:htmlMailOverride=false where xxx is the name of each folder defined. -- Oliver Johns <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> San Francisco, California USA GPG KeyID=A2ACE692 GPG Fingerprnt=BE4A C1B8 EB0D 8FD9 737D CE4A 1E56 BF9B A2AC E692 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
