I've just done this.  But many of the builds fail.  A lot of autoconf stuff 
needs fixing too.  It's enough for a basic system though ;)

Shame dpkg cannot handle 'test' installs.  Ie something that would allow 
packages like kde2 and kde3.1 beta to co-exist.

Then again, which packaging system does?
