I had a quick look in kstandarddirs.cpp. I think we need to add "prefixes=/usr/local" to /etc/kderc. I haven't tested this yet, but I will try later. I don't know if we need to include /usr in there too. I doubt that we do. I don't think that we should support any more locations as standard.
