From the view of KDE, first there are the different versions then there are precompiled packages for different systems. Just today, I upgraded KDE2.2.2->KDE3.0.4 by using the source above. The right libqt3(-mt) was installed and it ran just fine (even _without_ removing KDE2.2.2 first). And else it is a pure woody system...
