move yourself to the /var/cache/apt/archives directory. try to install it manualy : dpkg --instal --force-depends libarts1_1.0.9+cvs20030103-0woody1_i386.deb Is posible the error apeares again, so, you will have to deinstall manualy the pakage wich is causing the problem: dpkg --purge package and finaly run apt-get install -f to finalice the instalation. That for every pakage that cause some error. ( don't care, it will be installed again, but with the new version ) hope I helped you.
