Hi, I have also had problems with kprinter crashing while using cups. For some reason when upgrading kde and cups to their latest versions in sid, the cups option "Browsing" got re-enabled even though I don't use it and previously had it off. Disabling it again fixed things for me
To reconfigure the cups server in kde go to Control Center->Peripherals->Printers and select cups as the print system. If your printer is listed, DON'T click on it or the control center will crash. Click Print Server->Configure Server and log in using root. Scroll to browsing and uncheck it and click ok. The server should restart and kprinter should work as normal. The strange thing is that if you re-enable browsing again, kprinter won't crash anymore. Perhaps kde's printer config got out of sync with /etc/cups/cupsd.conf during the upgrade and got confused? Or hopefully the problem is related to bug 56263 that appears to be fixed in CVS and can be backported soon: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56263 Regards, ~Scott
