Not at all. I run a complete Debian Sarge system without any trouble using http://download.kde.org/stable/3.1/Debian/. I would think that using 3.1.2 would still work - but like my original install of 3.1 there may be a few conflicts. I ended up throwing away a few packages that I wasn't using anyway. Eventually what's in Sid gets into Testing, and the download.kde.org link should be obsolete.
