I had the same question. It seems that there is no debian packages providing gpgsm, which is the gpg component handling s/mime. So, gpgme can't be built with s/mime support either (since gpgme uses gpg)
I saw one or two ITP for having gpgsm in debian, but it seems that there is nothing done yet :( -- Sylvain Joyeux
