In one of my KDE installations (latest unstable) dead keys for composing characters with diacritical marks such as accents do not work *in KDE applications*.
Say, when I try to enter an accented character in the Subject line in KMail, I get this <acute accent> + a -> a <grave accent> + a -> `a When I select "Simple Composing Input Method" for the Subject line, I get the results I want. But that setting does not stick and it ought to work with XIM anyway; at least it does in KDE on another machine. Also, when I run xterm within KDE, there dead keys work as intended. Obviously there must be some difference between my two machines, it's just that I can't find the relevant difference in their KDE/X configurations. Any hints?
