-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Ok. First of all, I'm using ndiswrapper because of the broadcom card in this laptop. I can configure the interface by hand in /etc/network/interfaces, but I do not wish to do this because of wanting to use this on the road.
I have KWlan and Wireless Assistant installed, but not running them at the same time. When KWlan launches, it reports: "KWlan was unable to create kwlan dialup peer directory" ...and... "WPA Supplicant is not started, encryption cannot be configured" Also, the "scan" shows nothing. When I try to activate the configuration of just essid anyway, I get "KWlan was unable to Configure wlan interface using iwconfig" So I thought this was a permissions problem, I ran KWlan as root and it still failed. I also tried Wireless Assistant. Everything seems to work, except the interface doesn't come up. The only indication of anything that I can find is in dmesg. Each time I try to bring up the interface with Wireless Assistant, it says: "ndiswrapper (iw_set_wep:927): key 1 is not set" So I'm rather stuck. Both KWlan and Wireless Assistant seem to be exactly the right tools for the job, especially Wireless Assistant. Any suggestions, including a pointer to the correct venue? And google searches only report using these tools and they work.
