Hi Nate,
xserver 1.6 just hit sid in the last few days, input devices are now
handled by hal (ie this is nothing to do with kde):
* Comment all your inputDevices directives, and InputDevices sections
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
* Add to your ServerFlags section:
Option "AutoAddDevices" "false"
