Hi,
I hope someone can give me some advice on this, when I run aptitude
safe-upgrade, a number of packages, mostly from kde, are being kept back, as
follows:
The following packages have been kept back:
akregator{a} esound-clients{a} esound-common{a} gnokii-common grub
kaddressbook{a} kalarm{a}
kdepim{a} kdepim-groupware{a} kdepim-kresources{a} kdepim-wizards{a} kjots{a}
kleopatra{a}
kmail{a} knode{a} knotes{a} konsolekalendar{a} kontact{a} korganizer{a}
ktimetracker{a}
libestools1.2{a} libkabcommon4{a} libkdepim4 libkleo4{a}
libkontactinterfaces4{a} libkpgp4{a}
libksieve4{a} libmimelib4{a} libwxgtk2.6-0{a} mplayer
Asking aptitude to go ahead shows messages like this for individual packages:
kjots will not be upgraded to version 4:4.3.4-1, to avoid breaking the
following dependencies:
* kjots replaces kontact (< 4:4.1.80) [UNAVAILABLE]
and
kdepim-groupware will not be upgraded to version 4:4.3.4-1, to avoid breaking
the following dependencies:
* kdepim-groupware replaces kaddressbook (< 4:4.1.80) [UNAVAILABLE]
* kdepim-groupware replaces kdepim-kresources (< 4:4.1.80) [UNAVAILABLE]
* kdepim-groupware replaces knotes (< 4:4.1.80) [UNAVAILABLE]
* kdepim-groupware replaces korganizer (< 4:4.1.80) [UNAVAILABLE]
* kdepim-groupware replaces libkdepim4 (< 4:4.1.80) [UNAVAILABLE]
I've been having this problem for a couple of months, but based on an earlier
message to this list http://lists.debian.org/debian-kde/2009/12/msg00012.html
("Dependencies problem with kdepim 4.3.2 in squeeze"), I had decided to just
wait to see if the problem would resolve itself.
I'm hesitant to force an upgrade, as it seems like it will do all kinds of
undesirable things.
Any thoughts appreciated.
