I usually resolve this kind of conflict with a manual install by going to /var/cache/apt/archives/ and typing # dpkg -i --force-all <pkgA>.deb [<pkgB>.deb] (perhaps installing just one package when the other one is already in place is sufficient, cannot remember)., never encountered any problem after such a brute force solution - was I just lucky?
