As said, i had a ext2 root, and the initrd generated by the kernel-image-2.6.6-powerpc when setting MODULE=dep in /etc/mkinitrd/mkinitrd.conf didn't include the ext2 module, but it included ext3 and the other ones (reiser, xfs, and so on). This resulted in not being able to mount the root filesystem, and thus an unbootable system, thus the severity. IT should probably be critical, but i guess this works on the x86 kernel, since it has ext2 builtin, not sure though.
