Hi,
I can confirm this same problem on a debian system (up-to-date 'testing') running on an IBM eServer X330. The root file system is on a SCSI disk attached to the built-in Adaptec aic7xxx controller.
After update from 2.6.7 to 2.6.8 kernel the system stops with the above described kernel panic after boot.
I do not have physical access to these machines, but I'll be happy to provide any information that may be necessary to solve this highly annoying bug. Please let me know what I need to provide.
