It seems the upper USB port of the Pegasos2 is not working.  I suspect
this is a kernel problem since the light of the USB stick goes on when
I plug it in, but nothing appears in dmesg.  However, when I plug it
in the port below, the kernel recognizes the USB stick,

As the subject says, this is not a bug, as the port is not physically
