Package: kernel
Version: 2.6.12-5
Severity: important

Hi,

I was installing a package with dpkg when the kernel had a GPF. dpkg
was then stuck and I had to reboot the system. This is with the
Debian provided linux-image:

Since such errors are often hardware related here is some info that
lead me to trust the reliability of this hardware:

 - RAM DIMMs are high quality Corsair 3200XL DIMMs

 - I ran memtest for several hours without any problem

 - the system is cooled by 3 12cm fans

 - the CPU is very cool according to lm-sensors:
CPU Temp:  +34.0°C  (high =   +80°C, hyst =   +75°C)   sensor = thermistor

 - this system had high uptimes with previous kernels and no crash ever
happened:

$ uprecords
     # Uptime | System Boot up
