The issue affects SLES11SP4 (3.0.101-68-default) and SLES12SP1 (3.12.53-60.30-default) as well. Both have backported vmxnet3 1.4.2.0-k in their kernel package.
It does _not_ affect the official vmxnet3 module from the VMware tools, also calling itself version 1.4.2.0. So there seems to be a difference between the in-tree and the out-of-tree module.
