I think the hardware error logging/reporting features ACPI_APEI allows is desired for servers. The M400 problem is a problem with its firmware. I don't think we should hold everyone else back because of one platform with a known problem and relatively straight forward fix. M400 users would in general need to work around the problem with kernels from other sources/distros.
