--- Begin Message ---Package: src:linux Version: 4.9.2-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I hibernate using either the menu, or `systemctl hibernate.` The system hibernates successfully, but on resuming, it crashes after extracting the hibernation image. The system is ThinkPad X40, 1.4GHz Pentium M, 1GB RAM, 60GB SSD. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I used the troubleshooting information from https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/power/basic-pm-debugging.txt. When that did not solve my problem, I accidentally noticed that kernel 3.16 was effective to solve the issue. Hibernation works as expected in 3.16. * What was the outcome of this action? The laptop passed the basic debugging steps, but fails to resume from actual hibernation. It can resume fine from suspend-to-ram. Only a downgrade to kernel 3.16 has allowed me to use hibernate functionality * What outcome did you expect instead? I was hoping that the laptop would resume from hibernation properly using a 4.x kernel. Currently any 4.x kernel available in Debian exhibits this resume from hibernation crash I have previously reported the issue on the mailing list, but have not been able to get any help or suggestions. - https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2016/10/msg00458.html - https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2017/01/msg00676.html -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 4.9.0-1-686 ([email protected]) (gcc version 6.3.0 20161229 (Debian 6.3.0-2) ) #1 SMP Debian 4.9.2-2 (2017-01-12) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.9.0-1-686 root=UUID=9bd96d21-ff13-4b8f-9fb0-5b81c7f1d074 ro quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 6.142993] intel_rng: FWH not detected [ 6.166538] thinkpad_acpi: Console audio control enabled, mode: monitor (read only) [ 6.189418] input: ThinkPad Extra Buttons as /devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/input/input7 [ 6.225163] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 [ 6.262822] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:00.0: CardBus bridge found [1014:0555] [ 6.396888] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:00.0: ISA IRQ mask 0x0cb0, PCI irq 16 [ 6.396894] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:00.0: Socket status: 30000006 [ 6.396902] yenta_cardbus 0000:02:00.0: pcmcia: parent PCI bridge window: [io 0x3000-0x7fff] [ 6.396906] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: cs: IO port probe 0x3000-0x7fff: [ 6.397676] excluding 0x3000-0x30ff 0x3400-0x34ff [ 6.444324] input: PC Speaker as /devices/platform/pcspkr/input/input8 [ 6.455826] [drm] Initialized [ 6.506093] Adding 2075644k swap on /dev/sda5.
