Heu, what exactly are you trying to do here ? what is the list of modules to get loaded automatically, and will adding it to /etc/modules not solve your problem, whatever that problem is ? Debian booted without problem with my 3w-9xxx card in it, and worked just fine, btu that was an etch snapshot.
