Package: src:linux
Version: 4.19.28-2
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?
A fresh installation of buster. On about the 3 reboot of the
fresh install the ps/2 keyboard was inactive on the console login.
I have not seen this problem on jessie or stretch on the fresh installs of
these versions a week ago on the same test box.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?
Plugged a usb keyboard then rebooted.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
The usb keyboard operated correctly. The ps/2 keyboard operates correctly
during the grub screen but is then inactive on the console login. The
keyboard
failure appears to be random. When the ps/2 keyboard is inactive
    /sys/devices/platform/i8042 does not exist.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Expect ps/2 keyboard operation on each reboot, but the ps/2 keyboard
seems to fail on one reboot out of five or six. The grub screen
has correct ps/2 keyboard operation consistently, then when booting through
to the cosole login, the ps/2 keyboard becomes inactive and the i8042
device
does not exist. When plugged, the usb keyboard operates correctly each time.

Hi

This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself
without resolution.

If you can reproduce it with

- the current version in unstable/testing
- the latest kernel from backports
