Hello

I think that I am hitting the "same" bug for mpt3sas driver on
bookworm 12.2 kernel during installation on bare metal machine.

The attached SAS disk is not seen on bookworm, but works fine on
Rockylinux8.

~ # uname -a
Linux sillage2 6.1.0-13-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.55-1
(2023-09-29) x86_64 GNU/Linux

~ # dmesg |grep mpt3
[ 114.677082] mpt3sas version 43.100.00.00 loaded
[ 129.697298] mpt2sas_cm0: failure at
drivers/scsi/mpt3sas/mpt3sas_scsih.c:12348/_scsih_probe()!

~ # lspci -k

PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-2 [Falcon] (rev 03)
        Subsystem: Broadcom / LSI 9211-8i
        Kernel modules: mpt3sas

~ # modinfo mpt3sas|head

According to https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1022126
it has been fixed for 5.10.178-1 and 6.1.20-1 but has not been
backported to the installation kernel of bookworm 12.2 (6.1.0-13).

Thanks

Hi

This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself
without resolution.

If you can reproduce it with

- the current version in unstable/testing
- the latest kernel from backports

please reopen the bug, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control
for details.

Regards,
Salvatore
