Unfortunately, you may have to. I don't think your cpus are supported by a 686 optimized kernel, and there's no 386-smp flavor. You can try and see if either 2.4.27-2-386 or 2.6.8-2-386 works for you as a first step. If those don't work, then its unlikely the smp-counterpart would work.
