As an update, I cannot reproduce this bug in the same conditions with a package I've compiled from 7.3.0 upstream.
Booting the kernel, loading the nf_conntrack module with sudo modprobe nf_conntrack which causes the oops almost immediately on 7.2.x fails to oops on 7.3.0 although I haven't done any more intensive traffic testing when running 7.3.0 (yet)
