Ditto - udev is calling getpwnam and getgrnam and is failing. I tried adding a hook script to copy my /etc/passwd and /etc/group files to $DESTROOT/etc, but that did no good. I tried adding /etc/ nsswitch.conf as well, but it didn't help either. I'm not sure what to try next.

Also, not sure if this is related to udev starting up angrily, but kernel.hotplug no longer getting set properly. My firmware for my wireless driver (acx) won't load unless I do: echo /lib/udev/firmware.agent > /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug (or use sysctl)

That may be specific to the udev package.

Running:
        initramfs-tools 0.75
        udev 0.097-1.
        custom kernel pkg 2.6.17.7

cheers,
nate
